OUR STORY
University People is the Higher Education Professional Services Division of the Management Recruitment Group. Established in 2007, we have managed over 700 recruitment campaigns for Higher Education Institutions (HEI_). We are undoubtably best known for our work across Estates and Facilities Management however in the past five years our Higher Education team has grown and diversified. In 2020/21 alone we have facilitated upwards of 50 successful appointments across Admissions, International, IT and Technology Enhanced Learning. Libraries, Marketing, Operations, Recruitment and Student Services. Our 360 knowledge of how universities run means that we understand the culture and values that are important to your organisation. We are able to find the best candidates, ranging from experts within the HEI field to those who work outside of HEI and have optimum transferable skills. We provide a robust and inclusive search & selection service that is competitively priced. We recognise the need for our clients to demonstrate value for money in procurement. We believe our service is comprehensive and priced competitively, however we will always recommend the most appropriate solution to meet our clients needs and can tailor our services to meet budgetary constraints.

OUR EXPERIENCE HAS SHOWN US THAT WE NEED A CLEAR, BESPOKE STRATEGY WHEN APPROACHING EACH CAMPAIGN. BELOW ARE SOME OF THE PROCESSES WE USE TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS.
HOW WE DO IT
HEADHUNTING We target a very specific pool of candidates by potential suitability, specifically considering experience and track record. Exceptional candidates are not always looking for new roles, and therefore need to be identified, engaged with and enticed into a career move. They will need to be offered a career move that is not available within their current organisation or contains enhanced opportunities and reward than their current role. This element of a campaign allows us to take positive action, from an equality, diversity and inclusion perspective, and proactively engage with candidates from currently underrepresented groups within an organisation.
BESPOKE CANDIDATE BROCHURES In a competitive market where there is significant competition for talent, we have developed an expertise in showcasing a role. Included within the campaign fees, we will produce a digital FlippingBook that make the most of how potential candidates consume information today. Often, we can achieve over 500 opens of the Candidate Brochure. We will monitor the performance and amend then adapt whilst live to ensure maximum exposure.

EQUALITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION (EDI) We take our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) very seriously and are proud of our track record in this area. We also understand that EDI is something that is very important to our clients. They want to know that they are working with a recruitment partner that takes inclusive recruitment seriously and has a real commitment to promoting EDI. From September 2019 to August 2020, 47% of our appointments were female and 19% consider themselves to be from an ethnic minority. Our approach to EDI is constantly under review and evolving. For example, in October 2021 every consultant undertook ‘Understanding Unconscious Bias’ training. It is essential for us to ensure that we are reaching the most diverse pools of candidates possible and that our selection process is free from any form of discrimination or bias. We have processes in place to ensure we are committed to EDI across every stage of the campaign, including advertising, search, selection and monitoring. PSYCHOMETRIC TESTING We utilise Thomas International for all our psychometric and intelligence profiling. We can offer the full range of assessments; however we usually recommend the Personal Profile Analysis (PPA) which is a psychometric assessment to better understand the candidates working behaviours, their strengths, limitations, communication and leadership style. We’ve seen great success by implementing psychometric testing. When chosen, we carry it out after the shortlisting and before your face-to-face interviews, keeping costs to a minimum. SUSTAINABILITY We understand our place in the world and believe we have a collective responsibility to create a sustainable legacy for our staff, their families, our clients, suppliers, shareholders and the candidates we find life changing career moves for. We work within the requirements of UK legislation but go further by embracing the spirit of the drive for sustainability. Our Board have committed to a Carbon Footprint assessment in early 2022 to provide us with the basis for further targets and improvement.
