ANTHROPOLOGY 301 GENERAL CULTURAL ANTHROPOLOGY Nature of culture; cultural growth and history; the range of cultural phenomena, including material culture, social organization, religion, language, and related topics. BIBLE 301 EARLY CHRISTIAN HISTORY-ACTS The book of Acts with special emphasis on the missionary philosophy and activity of the early church and its current application. DOCTRINE 401 DOCTRINE OF THE CHURCH (3) The doctrine of the Church, its origin, ordinances, and organization, with careful consideration given to denominational distinctives and the theological issues which underlie its mission. HISTORY 327 HISTORY OF THE EXPANSION OF CHRISTIANITY (3) The background, origin, development, and spread of the Christian religion; emphasis on the modern era. LINGUISTIC 301 GENERAL LINGUISTICS (3) Descriptive and historical study of language, linguistic analysis; language classifica­ tion, language in its cultural and social settings. MISSIONS 312 JEWISH MISSIONS (2) The history of the Jews, their festivals and customs, their fundamental beliefs; effective methods of evangelization. MISSIONS 401, 402 PRACTICUM SEMINAR (1-3, 1-3) Supervised exposure to basic principles in the areas of disease prevention, communi­ cation with supporters, photography, graphic arts, mechanics, construction, bookkeep­ ing, and related subjects. Designed for the student who is planning on a career in missions. PHILOSOPHY 314 PHILOSOPHY OF WORLD RELIGIONS (3) The philosophies and beliefs of the world's leading religions. Alternate years, offered 1971-72. SOCIOLOGY 403 SOCIAL STRUCTURE AND CHURCH PLANTING (3) Sociological structures and their relationship to the principles and practices of church establishment. SOCIOLOGY 404, 405 SOCIAL STRUCTURE AND CHURCH GROWTH (3, 3) Sociological structures and their relationship to the principles and practices of church expansion.
