Exploration of materials and techniques suitable to elementary class instruction and class evaluation of completed findings. 319. OUTDOOR EDUCATION METHODS. (Z) A survey of current practices in the National Outdoor Education program with emphasis on organization, administration and curriculum content. One week lab­ oratory experience under the direction of the Norwalk-La Mirada public schools. 320. HYGIENE METHODS. (2) A course designed to teach techniques essential in health education on the ele­ mentary school level. Survey of curriculum and cooperating agencies in the state program. 403. STUDENT TEACHING. (8) A laboratory experience in a public school classroom situation under the director­ ship of a qualified supervising t eacher. Student teach ers must be certified by the County Office before granted permission to practice teach. This course must be com­ pleted before a degree in elementary education or music education will be granted. 406. HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION. (3) A course designed to examine education in teinLS of the historic medium from times of Greek civilization to the present. Acquaintance with the great educators, the major trends, and the modern philosophy of education.
