FOREIGN LANGUAGE

This requirement of eight units in a foreign language is based upon the premise that the student plans to continue a high school language in which he has two years of credit. Those having no foreign language in high school or wishing to begin a new language in college to meet the general education requirement will be required to take twelve units (3 semesters) of a foreign language. Those with three years of the same high school language will need to take only four units (1 semester). Those with four years of the same high school language have met the general education requirement. See the department for details.
