Students are expected to supply their blankets, bedspreads, and electric irons; however, neither irons nor any cooking equipment may be used in students' rooms. Each dormitory unit is in charge of a qualified house parent. The adminh, tration reserves the right to inspect rooms at any time. HOUSING FOR MARRIED STUDENTS Although Biola College does not have on-campus housing facilities for married students, apartments are rather easily obtained within the area. A number of married students live either in La Mirada or some of the immediately surround ing communities, such as Buena Park, Fullerton, La Habra, Norwalk, and Whit tier. The Dean of Students Office maintains a file on available housing. Biola College attempts to help married students coming into the area by providing a loan service on used furniture inasmuch as most apartments are unfurnished. There is no charge for this service, but students who borrow furniture must assume the responsibility for moving it from storage and returning it ( except for normal wear) in as good a condition as when it was received. A trailer for moving furniture within the local area only is available from the college for a nominal fee. DISCIPLINE Biola College is dedicated to the training of young people who are sirn;:ere and earnest in their desire to live for Jesus Christ. Because this is true, students are expected to give evidence of conduct consistent with such a profession. At the time of admission, each student enters into an agreement with the College to be responsible for certain details of activity and conduct. Infringements are recorded by reminders in writing, and any student who accumulates a sufficient number of reminders is asked to meet with the Student Court or Student Per sonnel and Guidance Committee for counsel and help. Students whose attitudes prove to be uncooperative are asked to withdrav.: from school. STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES Biola College offers a Health Service for all registered students. This service is under the direction of a medical doctor and a registered nurse. The office hours are during the regular school days: Monday through Friday 7 :00 a.m. to 9 :30 p.m. A nurse is on call weekends. These services include consultation and treatment by the college physician, first aid, and infirmary nursing care. A medical consent form must be signed by parent or guardian for all unmarried students under twenty-one years of age. This consent does not take away a student's privilege of choosing his own medical care, but it does give the college physician permission to treat the student. Biola offers protection to the student against certain expenses caused by accident, injury, or emergency illness in the form of a required plan of medical insurance. The cost of this insurance is to be covered by the student. The estimated cost of this insurance is $17.80 per semester and is subject to change from time to time by the company. Biola does not assume any responsibility for serious illness or accident on or off campus, in or out of school games or activities. The use of the school facilities is at the student's own personal risk. 38
