320 VOCAL WORKSHOP (1) Voice building; problems of solo and group singing; a survey of solo and small ensem­ ble vocal literature. Designed only for music education and applied music majors with instrumental emphasis. Not for students with a vocal emphasis. 321 STRING WORKSHOP (2) Elementary instruction in violin, viola, cello , and bass ; tone production, bowing, tech­ nique, and care of instruments. 322 WOODWIND WORKSHOP (2) Elementary instruction in clarinet, flute, oboe, bassoon, and saxophone; correct tone production, technique, and care of instruments. 323 BRASS WORKSHOP (2) Elementary instruction in trumpet, alto horn, French horn, trombone, baritone horn, and tuba; correct tone production, technique, and care of instruments. 324 PERCUSSION WORKSHOP (1) The rudiments of snare drum; instruction in performing on other percussion instru­ ments .

425 PIANO PEDAGOGY (2) For the teacher of private piano. Practical procedures used in training a student m touch, pedalling, general musicianship. memorization, proper practice habits, and sight­ reading; survey of graded literaturc; planning of recitals. 426 ADVANCED PIANO SEMINAR (1, 1) History and mechanics of the piano; current developments in concert stage and record­ ing performance; guest lectures who are highly competent in specific areas. May be taken one or two semesters.
