Department Majors: History, 30 units of history beyond the general education requirements, of which 24 must be upper division, including 420, 421. Political Science 301 and 302, or equivalence, are required as supporting courses. Latin American History, 15 units of Latin American History; nine additional units in history, including 420,421; six units in either Latin American Geography, Political Science, or anthropology; six upper division units in Spanish or Portu­ guese Literature. Students completing this major will receive, in addition to the B.A. degree, a Certificate indicating a proficiency in Latin American Studies. 94
