Four hours lecture, three hours laboratory. Either semester. 105 GENERAL PHYSICS: MECHANICS OF SOLIDS AND FLUIDS (4) Elementary Newtonian mechani cs; conservation of energy and momentum ; wave motion, heat and thermodynamics. Prerequisites: high school physi cs or consent of instructor; Mathematics 105. Three hours lecture, three hours laboratory. 110 ASTRONOMY (3) An introductory course; the earth-moon system and the planets; stars and stellar sys tems, nebulae, galaxies; telescopes and their accessories. Not offered 1971-72. 206 GENERAL PHYSICS: ELECTRICITY AND MAGNETISM (4) Electrostatics; conductors and currents; magnetic fields; electromagnetic induction; electromagnetic waves. Prerequisites: 105.
