The material of this Course is; now in the hands of the press and will be available by October 1st. Like all of the other Courses of the Correspondence School, it will be printed in loose-leaf form making it convenient for the student to insert notes of his own. Enroll ment fee, $3.00.
In response to repeated requests, we are planning to start this fall a Correspondence Course in Teacher Training. This Course will be furnished by the depa^S ment of Christian Education of the Institute,. and it’s units will, as far as seems practical, be chosen from the regular three-years’ course of that department. Sat isfactory completion of such units may be applied to ward credit in the regular Christian Education course as far as the work covers the same ground, as it is the aim to make this work of a thoroughly high grade. 'The courses will bsgbased quite largely upon the Bible, which we find to be the greatest "fsoprce book .-.for teacher training. This will be supplemented by the best text books available, but only by such as are abso lutely evangelical, pedagogical and practical. The first unit of the course will probably b e’ready about October 1st. This will be a study of Jesus as, the Master Teacher, and from this study the" fundamental pedagogical principles will be derived. The main text book will be “Jesus the Master Teacher” by Horne, sup plemented by “The Teacher” by Weigle. The cost of this.Unit, as of each of the ones which will follow, will be $3.00, and that fee will include thé furnishing of the required text books. Other units which ,we contemplate adding next year at intervals of 3 months each to allow for their prep aration, are “A Study of the Pupil,” “Training the Devotional Life” or Developing the Worship Period in the Church School, and “The Teaching Values of the Old Testament.” What units of teacher training shalll follow these will depend somewhat upon the willies and needs of the pupils as they may be expressed to us.
