Object ive : The obj ec ti ve of thi s department is to acquaint the student with the princ ipal prob lems and issues of philosophy , hi storical and contemporary . The courses in philosophy are des igned to contri bute to the general educati on of the student , to aid him in refl ec tive thinking , and to contribute to an understanding of the persis tent prob lems of our cul ture .
