SUMMER SCHOOL A growing and continuing summer school program provides students with the opportunity for a greater degree of flexibility in planning their total program. Students may enrich their course of study and reduce the overall time spent in col lege, or decrease their regular course load by carefu l se lection of summer school courses. Visiting students find it refreshing to study in a different atmosphere and perhaps a different locale , and entering students find it helpful in gaining advanced standing. Work taken may be applied to both the degree and the teaching credential programs. Instruction is offered in standard courses by the regular Biola College faculty and capable visiting professors. Courses offered include ar{ , Bible , doctrine, Greek , history , literature, mathematics , philosophy, psychology , biological science, sociology , and other subjects , including education courses for teaching credential cand idates. Credit is also available in connection with excellent foreign tours conducted during the summer. Tu ition , room , and board are lower than regular charges at private colleges: total costs are competitive with state summer sc~ool charges. Certain courses or works hops may be offered in the Summer Schoo l that are not listed in this bulletin. Courses may be innovative or the content may be in response to specialized needs or current topics. Such courses will be described in the separate summer school bulletin. Requests for the summer school bulletin , which fs available about February 15 , and application forms for admission should be addressed to the Admissions Office. Admiss ion to the summer program does not presuppose or grant acceptance to the co ll ege for the regular school year. EUROPEAN,HOLYLANDTOURS Biola College , in cooperation with other accredited colleges, offers the opportunity to attend summer school while traveling. College assignments take on new life and meaning as the student visits such places as Rome, Florence, Heidelberg, and Paris. A number of excell ent tours are available and directed by experienced tour leaders. These include tours in the Un ited States , Lat in America , Europe , and the Middle East. A maximum of s ix semester units of credit may be earned . These tours embrace a wide range of interests in subject areas , including history , art, literature, religion, and general culture and civilization. The program is flexible enough so that the student may choose either a three or six week study period. Those not interested in cred it may enjoy one of these tours as an auditor. All tours are open to those of college age and whose health is sufficiently strong to stand the rigors of travel. For further information write: Tour Department , Biola College.
