DEPARTMENT OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

WALLACE EMERSON, Ph.D., Prafessor (Head of the Department) MARTHA S. HOOKER, A.B., Associate Professor MARY CRESWELL, M.R.E., Assistant Professor ZADA STEVEN-S, M.A., Assistant Prafessor

This curriculum is designed for vocational training of directors of Christian Edu cation, youth leaders, released time teachers, and church secretaries, in America and on the foreign field. Students planning for the foreign field need adequate background in Christian edu cation. So much of the missionary's work involves the building of an indigenous church through the training of native leaders that the modern evangelical missionary must be prepared to establish educational institutions which shall carry on under native leader ship, if and when the country should be closed to foreign missionaries. Those interested in Christian Education as an avocation will be trained to work effectively in the educational program of the local church as Bible teachers, Sunday School superintendents, club leaders, youth sponsors, conference leaders, etc., and to do similar work outside the church. The requirements for a major are forty hours in Christian Education including thirteen hours in psychology, and thirty hours in Bible and doctrine.
