It is the purpose of this course to train prospecti ve teachers on an elementary school level in accordance with the standards of the Ca liforni a State Department of Education so that they may teach in public elementary schools, Ch r istian day schools, and on the mission field. It is becoming increasingly necessa ry for teachers planning service on the mission field to be prepared on levels acceptable to the state schools in the United States. It will be apparent to the student, upon reading the outline of this course, that it will he necessary to plan four (4) years and two (2) summer sessions for the completion of this course. The total number of semester hours required for completion of the course is one hundred thirty-seven ( 137).

INTRODUCTION TO AMERICAN PUBLIC EDUCATION. Designed to acquaint the prospective teacher with the purpose, spirit, organization, and ad minist ration of the American elementary schools. Credi t, two hours . TESTS AND MEASUREMENTS. A course organized to give basic back ground in elementary statistics, intelligence testing, and a workable knowledge of achievement tests. Credit, two hours . HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION. This course, in the main, is designed to develop a guiding philosophy of educ~tional thinking. Credit, three hours. 62
