LYMAN STEWART, cofounder with Mr. Horton of BIOLA, became its first President, holding that office until his death in 1923. He gave largely and sacrificially of his means, not only to BIOLA, but to many other wor thy enterprises. The Bible Ins titute in Changsha, Hunan, China, was founded largely through his interest and gifts.

LYMAN STEWART

T . C. HORTON, one of the founders of BIOLA, held the office of Superintendent until 1925. He was the fi rst ed itor of The King's Business, and the organizer of the Fishermen Clubs. The various home missionary activities of the Institute were largely the outgrowth of his intense missionary zeal.

R. A. TORREY, world-renowned evangelist, Bible teacher, and author, became Dean of the Bible In­ stitute of Los Angeles in 1912. In 1915, when the Church of the Open Door was organized, Dr. Torrey became its firs t pastor. He served in this twofold capacity until his resignation in 1924.
