* A grade of A in either 11 0A or 1108 exempts the student from taking the other semester and completes the requirement. LITERATURE 250 Introductory Studies in Literature or 450 Advanced Studies in Literature (with consent of department) or foreign language literature

FOREIGN LANGUAGE 8 units This requirement of eight units in a foreign language is based upon the premise that the student plans to continue a high school language in which he has two years of credit (see page 24- High School Record). For most majors, those having no foreign language in high school or wishing to begin a new language in college to meet the general education requirement will be required to take twelve units (3 semesters) of a foreign language . Those with three years of the same high school language will need to take only four units (1 semester). Those with four years of the same high school language have met the general education requirement. See the department for details . International students for whom English is a second language need not take a foreign language. PHILOSOPHY 3 units Any one of these courses will meet the requirement: 102 Logic DIVISION OF SCIENCE A minimum of eight units is required in science and/ or mathematics. Biology 100 with 110, and Physical Science 101 have both been designed for the student with a limited background in science . Those with a strong background may choose other courses with guidance from the division and/ or by qualifying through proficiency testing in biology , chemistry, or mathematics. Options: Biology 100 , 102, 110, 130,152,221 Chemistry 103 , 105 Mathematics 101 , 111 Physical Science 101 , 103 , 110 Business Mathematics 19 1 DIVISION OF SOCIAL SCIENCE HISTORY 101 , 102 World Civilization 6 units or any two of the following: 207 , 208, 209 , 210, 211 , 309 , 313 , 314, 321 (with consent of department) 205 , 206 United States History 6 units or any two of the following : 301 , 302 , 303 , 401 , 402 , 403 (with consent of department) ELECTIVES Normally a student has considerable freedom in the choice of electives that his program may permit in addition to the Bible , general education , and major requirements.
