California State Scholarship applications are available in the Financial Aid Office and must be mailed to the California State Scholarship & Loan Commission, 1410 Fifth St., Sacramento, California, 95814, by the November deadline for the following fall. Departmental applications for scholarships (for music, athletics, forensics, and nursing) are available from departments only. For example, write to the Chairman, Music Depart­ ment, Biola College. Work-Study Applications should be filled out at the time an on-campus job is obtained from the student employment office. Applications will be processed and the student and his employer will be notified if he is eligible.

TYPES OF AID AVAILABLE Scholarships

Awards are made by the Scholarship Committee to students meeting academic and per­ sonal requirements. Scholarships ranging from $100 to full tuition are given for a period of one year, and in most cases are renewable if the student continues to meet require­ ments and funds are available. Biota Scholarships include academic, honor , meritorious service, and presidential awards. Academic: $200, $400, or $600. 3.3 G.P.A. required, based upon academic achievement and financial need.

$1000 to each recipient, divided equally among men and women. 3.75 G.P.A. required for entering freshmen, 3.60 G.P.A. required for con­ tinuing Biola students based upon academic achievement and personal qualifications with no consideration given to financial status. $300 or $600. 2.50 minimum G.P.A. required. This award is reserved for students whose G.P.A. is not outstanding , but who excel in a particular field. Advanced senior standing with intention to graduate at the end of the school year required , along with a 3.60 G.P .A. , attendance at Biola for at least two years , as well as personal qualifications .

President ' s Award : $1500, offered to one fellow and one girl.

Performance Awards are made by the Music Department to music majors with high G.P.A., ranging from $300 to $1000. The scholarship must be used for the area in which the applicant auditioned, and the student is expected to use his judgment in participation of outside activities , so that a maximum of his time may be devoted to music. Music scholarship recipients are required to participate in an ensemble activity. Piano or organ majors are assigned a voice major whom they will accompany and practice with throughout the year in lieu of the ensemble participation requirement. Athletic Scholarships are offered to students who demonstrate outstanding ability and achievement in a particular sport.
