The NAI Mertz of PA sales team of Dave Weaver, vice president; Steve Cole, sales as- sociate; and Fred Meyer, SIOR, director of corporate services were responsible for completing these deals. Weaver and Cole completed two of the top five recorded transactions — in square foot- age and sales price — in 2016 in northeast PA. These deals included the sale of a 121,600 s/f former Wal-Mart, in Pittston. Mericle Commercial Real Estate

purchased the vacant property and is redeveloping the site into a multi-tenanted office and medical complex. The second transaction was the sale of a 116,400 s/f industrial building in Humboldt Industrial Park in Hazleton. Notable lease transactions closed by the team in 2016 include: • A 200,000 s/f lease to be used as a distribution center in Humboldt Industrial Park in Hazleton; • A 155,000 s/f lease to be used as a distribution center in Hanover Crossings in Hanover Twp.; • A 100,000 s/f lease of a manufacturing building in Val- ley Distributing’s rail served industrial park in Laflin; • A 77,000 s/f industrial warehouse lease in Kingston. In 2016, NAI Mertz of PA also welcomed two new sales associates, Bryan Eckert and Chris Matus, to its team. “I am pleased to welcome Bryan and Chris to NAI Mertz of PA,” said Barry Mertz, president. “Both gentlemen have great business and leadership experience and strong knowledge of the mar- ket. They will be tremendous assets to our clients that are looking to locate or grow within northeastern PA,” he added. “We are pleased to have successfully represented our clients in 2016 and to have completed some of the largest transactions in northeastern PA,” saidWeaver. “This activity reflects the growing interest in the I-81 Corridor for industrial users due to the saturation in primary distribution markets in the Northeast,” he added. “Companies coming to Scran- ton, Wilkes-Barre, and Hazle- ton are also benefiting from lower lease rates, a strong labor pool and excellent proximity to many highways including I-80, I-81 and the PA Tpke.,” added Cole. “With these positives, a growing sales force in our Wilkes-Barre office, and several deals already in the pipeline, we are on target to surpass over one million s/f of transactions again this year,” he concluded. n
