2017 Spring MOMENTS

A Collector’s Story

W e recently met 21-year-old Rebekah, a student at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas where she is a kinesiology major. Rebekah is relatively new to the world of Precious Moments collecting and she explains how she was drawn to the brand. “Precious Moments figurines have always been present in my life— but it wasn’t until about a year ago that I took a personal interest in them. It started when my Auntie Kim took me to the Precious Moments Chapel. Being there amidst all the serenity and beauty ignited a new flame in my heart; the place was so peaceful that I could’ve stayed for days. There were so many different figurines that spoke to me!” Precious Moments figurines hold different meanings for each person and Rebekah’s take on them is quite touching. “One of the things I adore most about Precious Moments is the innocence portrayed in every figure. Each has the face of a child full of hope, adoration and wonder,” she explains. “Precious Moments children reflect the better side of humanity, the small pieces of us that still reflect the Garden of Eden.” This year’s Club theme is all about nurturing our most precious relationships, so we asked Rebekah to tell us about some of her most special bonds. She told us about two people very dear to her. “My best friend, Dani, has been by my side since the day I was born. We have some different tastes and different views. This has led to a couple of arguments. But with guidance from the Lord, peace, and love, we have made it through our disagreements and our friendship is still as strong as ever. I know that our deep affection will last until the end of time, regardless of what hardships we face.”

She also told us about another special person, her fiancé, Zachariah. “Ever since I was a little girl watching Disney movies, I’ve been hoping and praying for true love. But I was raised by people who told me it wasn’t enough to just “feel the butterflies.” To have a successful relationship, I must deeply know the person. I must know that I love him on his good days and his bad days, even when he drives me a little crazy. “How blessed am I to have found a man, Zach, with the same wise ideals my parents taught me! I could not have asked for a better man. We can talk for hours on end without getting bored, or we can just sit in silence together, simply enjoying the other’s company. I know that this journey Zach and I are on has only just begun, but I know that with God, we will get through anything.” Such touching tributes to the ones she loves! Rebekah’s favorite figurine is Some Days Have Their Ups And Downs a piece with a little blonde-haired girl gazing at Eeyore, the donkey from Winnie The Pooh. “This figurine means so much to me because my fiancé once played Eeyore in a show at Tulsa Little Theatre and I have blonde hair like the little girl! Thus, it is a precious representation of our relationship,” she tells us. In addition to her schooling, her special relationships, and her newfound love for Precious Moments, Rebekah is also a novelist and an avid reader. She enjoys dancing, running and weight lifting. After graduate school, she hopes to become a physical therapist. With such a positive attitude and zest for life, we have no doubt she will meet all her goals.
