Evaluating Potential Treatments for Autism Interview Questions Treatment Approach 1. What research exists to support the effectiveness of this approach? 2. If there is no published research supporting the treatment approach, who is promoting the approach and on what basis? 3. Has this approach been used with other children that have characteristics similar to my child? 4. How much and in what observable ways can my child benefit from this approach? 5. Where can I learn more about this treatment? 6. Are there any side effects of this approach? 7. How will you assess my child and develop a treatment plan? Specific Service Provider 1. What are the professional credentials for practicing this treatment approach? 2. What is your professional background (education, supervised work experience, experience with children similar to my own)? Can you provide a copy of your resume? 3. How will you individualize this treatment for my child? 4. Are you willing to collaborate with other professionals involved with my child? 5. How often will you see my child? 6. Will there be other professionals (e.g., instructors) working with my child? If so, how do you supervise them? 7. What is the role of parents and family members?
