King's Business - 1952-12

leads to sorrow, thus he prays, “that it tion is, “that it be not to my sorrow” (A.S.V.). Out of the will of God and into trouble! The best way is always God’s way.

tinually. Prayer is an attitude of the soul. A man does not need to enter the church or kneel in prayer in order to pray. Paul says, “ Pray without ceasing” (1 Thess. 5:17). How can we do that? By living in the presence of God. We should be in constant touch with God through Christ every moment of the day. This is the best kind of praying. The Promise of Answered Prayer Matt. 7:7 This wonderful promise is real. God does hear and answer prevailing prayer. This verse is an encouragement to pray, and to keep on praying. Note the in tensity of the verse—ask, then seek, then knock. If we do not get what we pray for when we ask then let us seek more earn estly; if the answer still does not come then let us knock in quiet desperation. God delights in belivers who mean busi ness (Luke 11:5-10; John 4:46-54). The Spirit of True Prayer Luke 18:9-14 Here is the famous account of the Pharisee and the publican, both of whom went into the temple to pray. The self- righteous Pharisee made a fool out of himself, and his prayer rose no higher than the ceiling of the temple, if it got that high. But the publican came in all humility. He recognized the holiness of God and his own sinfulness. He prayed for mercy thus acknowledging that God is merciful. The right view of God leads to the right view of ourselves. It was the prayer of this man that got through to God. He always listens to the sinner who comes in the attitude expressed by this poor pub lican. The Bible in the News (Continued from Page 2b) Space Not Empty New theories about the structure of the universe were recently disclosed by Dr. Fritz Zwicky of Caltech. With the help of the Mt. Wilson and Palomar telescopes, Dr. Zwicky believes that there is a great deal of starry material be tween the great galaxies and that there is as much between them as there is in them. He holds the intergalactic space cannot be empty. It must be populated by stars, small groups of stars, star dust and gases. Dr. Zwicky’s studies reveal that he has identified and count ed more than 1,000,000 galaxies, 20 times the number of a former survey. Seattle's Arrests •-itThe big problem for the Seattle Police Department according to Robert Reed who reports in the Post Intelligencer of that city is the alcoholic. The alcoholic’s problem and that of his related brethren, the occasional drinker, is an expense of government that costs the taxpayers a pretty penny. Nearly two-thirds of the arrests made in Seattle in 1951 were drunks. Nor does this begin to take into account the man-hours that are lost and the damage that drunk drivers and belligerent inebriates are prone to do. T H E K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S
