We also run innovative Pro Bono projects to enable children and families to get the advice they need to build a stable future. For example, our international partnership with the charity Kids in Need of Defence continues to provide specialist, quality legal representation to children and young people with irregular or temporary immigration status. In the UK we launched a new Pro Bono partnership with Not Beyond Redemption to open a free family law clinic at HMP Styal, the women’s prison in Manchester. Evidence shows that children who lose contact with their mothers through incarceration are likely to experience many disadvantages including disrupted education and diminished future outcomes. Together, through the clinic, we provide legal advice and representation to help rebuild and protect these mothers’ relationships with their children.
