SEXTORTION SCAM The OPP warn of an online sextortion scam targeting Eastern Ontario resi- dents. The con artists work through social media, contacting potential victims, and threatening to release intimate photos of them to friends, family and online contacts unless they receive payment via wire transfer, Bitcoin, or in the form of gift cards. Watch for symptoms
Every year, fall in Québec is marked by a change from lazy summer days to a new routine. This year, we all need to stay alert to protect our kids while letting them attend school and educational childcare services. Working together, we can give them the chance to succeed! It’s important to follow the health and safety guidelines • Keep a distance of 2 metres between adults and children. • Wear a face covering when taking public transit and when indoors in closed spaces. • Wash hands often. • Follow the guidelines provided for educational childcare services and for schools, including school daycares.

• Sudden loss of sense of smell without nasal congestion, with or without a loss of taste • Major fatigue • Significant loss of appetite • General muscle pain (not related to physical exertion)
Children ages 5 or under: • Rectal temperature of 38.5°C (101.3°F) or higher Children ages 6 years and older: • Oral temperature of 38.1°C (100.6°F) or higher

If in doubt, stay home
Be careful at school, in daycare and in educational childcare services If your child shows symptoms, you will be asked to come and pick them up immediately. Call 1 877 644-4545 and follow the guidelines that will be provided. Parents and staff will be informed if a child that is part of the same class group tests positive for COVID-19. Anyone determined by the public health authorities to be at moderate or high risk will be contacted, removed from the school, daycare or childcare service, and tested. Parents and staff will be quickly notified if regional public health authorities deem it necessary to close down a facility or group.
Safely restarting activities
Any child showing symptoms should remain at home and limit contact with others. If the symptoms persist for more than 24 hours, use the Self-Assessment Tool or call 1 877 644-4545 to find out what to do. Your child should not go to school if: • Your local public health authority has told you to self-isolate. • There is a risk of the child being infected or if you believe they may have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19. • You are self-isolating for 14 days after travelling outside Canada. Children who are self-isolating at home may still be able to access distance learning support. Contact the staff at your child’s school for more information.
Even when it is possible to resume activities, you must follow all of the relevant public health guidelines, including those provided by a health professional. Never end an isolation period early.

Intimidation et violence à l’école : continuons d’en parler! Moqueries, rejet, harcèlement sexuel, taxage, coups, menaces, atteintes à la réputation… les formes d’inti- midation et de violence à l’école sont nombreuses, et toutes ont des conséquences sur les jeunes qui les su- bissent. Honte, anxiété et dégoût de soi, par exemple, sont des sentiments qui peuvent conduire les victimes à la dépression, au décrochage scolaire, à la toxico- manie, voire au suicide.
• Son humeur a changé (très irritable, triste, etc.); • Il n’a plus d’intérêt pour ses activités favorites; • Il a tendance à se dénigrer (se trouve moche, stupide, etc.); • Il invente des raisons pour ne plus fréquenter certains endroits; • Il préfère rester seul dans sa chambre; • Il se plaint fréquemment de maux de ventre, de tête, etc. Ne craignez pas d’aborder le sujet avec votre jeune, car votre soutien est essentiel. Écoutez-le, réconfor- tez-le et cherchez des solutions ensemble. Vous jugez que la sécurité de votre enfant est menacée ou qu’il est victime d’un acte criminel (harcèlement, agression sexuelle, menaces, etc.)? Quelles que soient les inter- ventions menées par son école, n’hésitez pas à com- muniquer avec la police.
Malheureusement, malgré toutes les campagnes de sen- sibilisation des organismes et les efforts des établisse- ments scolaires, l’intimidation et la violence sont en- core bien présentes en 2020. C’est pourquoi il importe de faire preuve de vigilance et de poursuivre les dis- cussions a fi n de trouver des solutions durables. DEMEUREZ À L’AFFÛT Souvent, par peur d’être jugé ou par crainte de repré- sailles de leur agresseur, les enfants (et plus particuliè- rement les adolescents) qui subissent de l’intimidation à l’école ou en ligne n’en parlent pas à un adulte, et encore moins à leurs parents! Pour savoir si le vôtre en est victime, soyez attentif à ces quelques signes :
CYBERINTIMIDATION Les jeunes sont friands de plate- formes de jeux en ligne, de textos et de réseaux sociaux. Ainsi, dès qu’ils ont un moment libre, les enfants — du secondaire et du primaire — ayant accès à Internet peuvent subir de l’intimidation de la part de leurs camarades de classe. Bien que ce phénomène soit relativement nouveau et peu documenté, on constate qu’il engendre des problèmes sérieux.

Chaque automne au Québec, les vacances laissent place à une nouvelle routine. Cette année, on reste vigilants pour assurer la sécurité de nos enfants. Ainsi, en leur permettant de continuer à fréquenter leur milieu éducatif, on leur offre les meilleures chances de réussir! On respecte les consignes sanitaires • On garde une distance de deux mètres entre les adultes et les enfants. • On porte un couvre-visage dans les transports en commun et les espaces intérieurs fermés. • On se lave les mains régulièrement. • On suit les consignes spécifiques au service de garde éducatif à l’enfance et à l’école, incluant le service de garde scolaire.

Si votre enfant présente un ou plusieurs symptômes depuis plus de 24 heures ou si vous pensez qu’un membre de votre famille a été exposé à la COVID-19, utilisez l’outil d’autoévaluation des symptômes de la COVID-19 à: Québec.ca/decisioncovid19 pour obtenir une recommandation sur la marche à suivre.

En cas de doute, on reste à la maison Si des symptômes apparaissent chez votre enfant, il est recommandé qu’il reste à la maison et que ses contacts avec les autres personnes soient limités. Si les symptômes sont toujours présents 24 heures après leur apparition, utilisez l’outil d’autoévaluation ou composez le 1 877 644-4545 pour connaître la marche à suivre. Votre enfant ne doit pas fréquenter son milieu éducatif: • si vous avez reçu une consigne d’isolement de la direction de santé publique; • s’il y a un risque que votre enfant soit atteint ou si vous croyez qu’il a été en contact avec un cas de COVID-19; • si vous êtes en période d’isolement de 14 jours après un séjour hors du Canada. Si votre enfant est en isolement à la maison, il peut bénéficier d’un soutien pédagogique à distance. Parlez-en aux personnes-ressources de son école.
On agit avec précaution à l’école et au service de garde Si votre enfant présente des symptômes, on vous demandera de venir le chercher dans les plus brefs délais. Vous devrez composer le 1 877 644-4545 et suivre les directives qui vous seront données. Si un enfant dans un groupe reçoit un diagnostic positif à un test de COVID-19, les parents et le personnel seront informés. Les personnes considérées comme étant à risque modéré ou élevé par les autorités de santé publique seront contactées, retirées du milieu et testées. Si la fermeture d’un groupe ou d’un établissement est jugée nécessaire par les responsables régionaux de santé publique, les parents et le personnel seront informés rapidement.
Lorsque la reprise de vos activités est autorisée, toujours le faire selon les consignes de santé publique reçues. Respectez toujours les consignes que vous donne un professionnel de la santé. Ne mettez jamais fin prématurément à une période d’isolement recommandée.

M. Jean-Guy Bourgon de Fournier (Ontario), décédé paisiblement à sa résidence, le jeudi 3 septembre 2020, à l’âge de 69 ans. Il était l’époux bien-aimé de Murielle Carrière; le fils de feu Albert Bourgon et de feu Rose Cardinal; le père de Sophie (Jason Staples) et Marc (Jasmine L’Ecuyer); le ‘‘pepère’’ adoré de Dominique (Amanda), Mykaël et Danik Staples, Emily (Adam) et Ariane Bourgon. Lui survivent également une sœur et un frère, Monic Malbeuf (épouse de feu Gilles Malbeuf et conjointe de Réjean Boudreault) et Gilles (feu Ginette Legault) ainsi que plusieurs beaux-frères, belles-sœurs, neveux, nièces et ami(e)s, spécialement Lyse et Marc St-Jean. Il fut prédécédé par deux frères, Raymond et Jacques; une sœur Lise. Étant donné les circonstances, un service religieux aura lieu dans l’intimité familiale en l’église Saint-Bernard à Fournier, suivi de l’inhumation au cimetière paroissial. Un merci spécial à Dre Manon Denis-Leblanc pour son dévouement et les bons soins prodigués à Jean-Guy. La Compagnie d’édition André Paquette (EAP) est l’éditeur de cinq journaux communautaires de Prescott-Russell, en Ontario, et d’Argenteuil, au Québec. EAP est actuellement à la recherche de JOURNALISTES de langue française et de langue anglaise Responsabilités : • couvrir différents genres d’évènements allant de réunions de conseils municipaux aux évènements communautaires et sportifs; • effectuer la recherche d’articles; • réaliser des entrevues; • rédiger, réviser et soumettre des articles aux fins de publication; • établir et maintenir un bon réseau de contacts; • prendre des photos, des vidéos, faire de la mise en page, mettre à jour les plateformes électroniques et les médias sociaux.
