We believe this community has many great attributes, including the many ways we can give back. If you’d like to help our community thrive, check out these nonprofits! IDAHO HUMANE SOCIETY If there’s one thing we know about Boise, it’s how much we all love our pets! The Idaho Humane Society has made a name for itself when it comes to rescuing animals, finding them loving homes, and protecting pets from cruelty. To make this possible, the organization relies heavily on volunteers, foster families, and donations. If you’re interested in learning more about how you can volunteer or foster animals — Give Back

TO THE TREASURE VALLEY THIS SEASON

or if you’d like to adopt your family’s new best friend — visit IdahoHumaneSociety.org. You can also find links for monetary or item donations online. RIDGE TO RIVERS One of the biggest perks of living in the Treasure Valley is the trail systems we have sweeping through our region and into the foothills. Because of the efforts by Ridge to Rivers, many of Boise’s foothills remain active for us to use, no matter the season or the state of the world. And you can help keep it that way! Trained volunteers can join the ranger program, which involves patrolling local trails and educating hikers, bikers, and others about trail etiquette. Others can adopt local spots and provide cleaning and maintenance to that portion

of the trail. If you’d like to give money, Ridge to Rivers uses these funds to continue maintenance. Learn more and find updates at RidgeToRivers.org.

LIFE’S KITCHEN Boise is home to some pretty great

restaurants, but Life’s Kitchen just might be the establishment with the biggest heart. Founded in 2003 by Rory Farrow, Life’s Kitchen fills a gap many young teens need help filling: basic life skills. Through the kitchen’s various training programs, students are provided workforce training, GED preparation, tutoring, and various other necessities. You can support the Life’s Kitchen mission by purchasing some of its delicious grub or donating online at LifesKitchen.org.
