Legal Aid / Clayton County Pro Bono
Clayton County Community Services Authority, Inc. is a Community Action Agency supported and financed by Federal, State, and Local Funds. Funding for administration is derived from an indirect cost rate negotiated with the Department of Health and Human Services. The Agency is organized and structured in accordance to the laws of the State of Georgia. The purpose of the Agency is to develop and implement projects and activities that address the needs and concerns of low- income families, the elderly and handicapped citizens of Clayton, Fayette and Henry counties. The primary responsibilities of the administration component are to provide support function for each program operated by the agency such as: Planning, monitoring, evaluation, training, resource mobilization, public relations, advocacy, coordination, affirmative action, purchasing, fiscal and budgetary management.
This component accesses the legal needs of low-income individuals of Clayton County who seeks civil representation with legal issues. Individuals are screened by staff for financial eligibility and program guidelines. Private Pro Bono attorneys volunteer their time to assist low–income eligible clients with civil legal issues. These individuals would otherwise not have access to the justice system. The Pro Bono Project is supported by Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Inc. and private local volunteer attorneys.
