13.2 Advanced Rhinestones The advanced rhinestone tools in Silhouette Studio® Designer Edition Plus provide additional customization options and enable you to view your designs with photo-realistic renderings. Custom Rhinestones You can draw your own custom rhinestone shapes in Silhouette Studio®, or you can import images of your custom rhinestones using a PixScan™ mat (see the PixScan™ section for more information).
Once you have your shape drawn or have placed the image of your custom rhinestone on the page, select the image. Then, click the ‘Add Selected Shape to Rhinestone Library’ button. This will add your shape to a section called ‘User Rhinestones’ underneath the preloaded stock rhinestones. The rhinestone shape will remain in your library so you can use it for future projects.
Resize Rhinestones to Non-Standard Sizes The size of circular rhinestones can be defined in ‘ss’ or in the dimensional units (‘mm’ or ‘inches’) set in your preferences settings. The width / height of non-circular rhinestones is defined in the dimensional units (‘mm’ or ‘inches’) set in your preferences settings. You can resize your custom rhinestones by clicking on the slider bars under your rhinestone library.
Placing Individual Rhinestones To place individual rhinestones in your design, you can select the rhinestone you want and drag and drop it in place. Or you can select ‘Single Click’ from the advanced rhinestone menu. Otherwise, there are two options to place rhinestones in your design: single and multiple.
Single Click mode provides a rhinestone cursor in the draw area which places the currently selected rhinestone from the Rhinestone Library on the page, allowing you to quickly place a repeated rhinestone.
When you are in ‘Multiple Rhinestones’ mode, the Rhinestone Cursor rotates through the sequence of
Rhinestones defined in your ‘User Rhinestones’ list, allowing sequences of different rhinestone types to be quickly placed.
Clicking the Rhinestone Cursor above a rhinestone which has already been placed in the draw area causes that rhinestone to be replaced by the new one, positioning the new rhinestone at the same center.
