Silhouette Studio® V4 | Chapter 9 - Cutting/Sketching

76

Action By: Line Color, Fill Color, or Layer You have the option to break up your project into multiple stages. This is especially handy if your project is designed to be cut in several colors or with projects that are to be sketched and then cut out. You can schedule cuts by line color, fill color, or by layer (Designer Edition only). By Line Color - All of the line colors present in your project will be visible in the cut menu. Based on line color, you can turn cut lines on or off, activate or deactivate auto-weld, and arrange a cutting order.

By Fill Color - All of the fill colors present in your project will be visible in the cut menu. Based on fill color, you can turn cut lines on or off, activate or deactivate auto-weld, and arrange a cutting order.

By Layer (Designer Edition Only) - All of the layers present in your project will be visible in the cut menu. Based on the layers you’ve created, you can turn cut lines on or off, activate or deactivate auto-weld, and arrange a cutting order.

Turning cut lines on or off - You can turn cut lines on or off by checking (or unchecking) the box next to the cut color or layer.

Turning auto-weld on or off - You can turn auto-weld on or off by clicking the auto-weld box next to the cut color or layer. With auto-weld activated, overlapping shapes of the same color or layer will be welded together.

Arranging cutting order - To arrange the order that different colors or layers are cut, simply click and drag the desired color or layer to a higher or lower in position in the cut order. Adding pauses - Pauses are especially helpful in sketch projects where it is necessary to change pens or blades between colors. To schedule a pause after a color or layer is finished, right-click (control-click on a Mac) the color or layer and select “add pause”.
