Print & Emboss The Print & Emboss option is very similar to the Print & Cut option, which uses registration marks to provide proper alignment around a print image. Print & Emboss jobs allow you to print an image onto a material’s surface and then press down onto the opposite side of the printed surface with an embossing tool. The resulting effect produces a printed image that is embossed. The emboss effect can either be around the edge or filled in according the Emboss/Deboss options previously selected.

Begin by placing your print design on screen and create the desired embossing lines around or within the printed image.

TIP: If using a Print & Cut image that already has a cut line created around the image and which also has surrounding white space, you can select the image and go to the Modify options to select Intersect. This will have all white space outside of the cut line contour trimmed. If you desire to assign an emboss fill type, you may then right-click Copy, and then right-click Paste In Front. The design can then be selected to apply any emboss fill type for use with the Print & Emboss feature. You may then go to the Print & Emboss section in the Emboss tool panel and click on the “Print” button under Step 1. This will have your image sent to your printer with printed registration marks. IMPORTANT: Please allow ample time for ink to dry prior to placing it onto the embossing mat. Ink that has not fully dried may transfer an imprint of the image onto the embossing mat surface. While this will not degrade or harm the mat, it may be undesirable. Remove the printed page with the cut-out registration marks from your Curio cutting mat. Flip the printed page over to the back (non-printed side) and place it face down onto your embossing mat. You may then slide the three small black squares received with your Curio under the cut-out registration marks so that the marks appear to be black.

IMPORTANT: It is recommended to allow ample time for ink to dry prior to placing it face down onto the embossing mat. Some ink may transfer onto the embossing mat. Such is normal and will not negatively affect further usage of the embossing mat. Replace the blade with an embossing tool into the Curio’s left-hand tool holder (identified by the red circle) and click on the “Emboss” button under Step 3. The back of the page will be indented along the emboss lines so that a raised emboss effect will be visible when the page is viewed from the front.
