TLMI Partners With Phoenix Challenge Foundation Tag & Label Manufacturer’s Institute (TLMI) has an- nounced new initiatives that reinforce and expand the association’s commitment to education and workforce development.As part of this new initiative,TLMI is part- nering with the Phoenix Challenge Foundation and will be sponsoring three of the Foundation’s events this year including the Phoenix Challenge High School Competition, the College Competition and the Annual Phoenix Challenge Golf Tournament. The Phoenix Challenge Foundation is an organization that promotes the growth of the flexographic printing process in high schools and colleges throughout North America and will be instrumental in assisting the association’s workforce development initiatives moving forward. Additionally, TLMI announced earlier in the year the formation of the association’s College Advisory Coun- cil.The primary goal of the Council is to serve as a col- laboration vehicle to promote ongoing dialogue between institutions of higher learning and label in- dustry workforce development efforts. One of the cen- tral objectives of TLMI’s College Advisory Council is to build awareness among students to view the label in- dustry as a potential and rewarding career path.

European Flexographic Association Dr. David Galton, Eurpoean Sales Director for Asahi Photoproducts, has been recognised with a lifetime achievement award by the European Flexographic In- dustry Association for his outstanding contribution to the flexo ndustry. David Galton has been a key figure in the printing in-

dustry for over 30 years, starting his industrial career at the London Col- lege of Printing and gaining his PhD at Leeds University. Galton remains an active researcher and author of numerous technical papers and arti- cles and was chairman of EFIA for 5 years from 2009 to 2015. His career began at Ilford Films working in R&D. Plate technology at Polychrome in the early 80s and then transferred to Asahi Chemical and the flexograph- ic sector in 1985. He has been in his role at Asahi Pho- toproducts for more than 30 years. The EFIA Awards 2018 were held at The Vox Centre in Birmingham, UK, on March 14.
