Stress Relief & Flatten Flattening , also referred to as Levelling , relieves the stresses that build up in the cutting, profiling, rolling, handling and general processing of metals. By repeated flexing of the material, these stresses are removed resulting in perfectly flat products; either as a finished article where flatness is important, or for automatic processes downstream such as bending or welding. Flat components eliminate the guesswork in compensating for distortion.
