Ce sera donc à l’aréna de Clarence Creek, la ville natale du chanteur des Double Odd Buck, qu’aura lieu le Festival western, du 19 au 23 juillet 2017. La programmation n’est pas complétéemais EricMichael Hawks veut tout demême rassurer les futurs festivaliers. « Il n’y aura pas de compétition avec le festival deWendover car c’est bien important qu’on ne se pile pas sur les pieds. Nous allons avoir deux différentes programmations. Le but c’est de doubler le nombre de groupe western qui passeront dans notre région.

A woman dedicated to helping children through the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) Champions for Kids Foun- dation (C4K) is stepping down as pres- ident. Carole Dufort vacated the position on December 1. Current 2nd Vice Chair David Morrison will assume the role. Dufort has assisted the charity for nearly a decade with everything fromhelping orga- nize signature events, such as its annual golf tournament, to serving as co-fundraising chair. The former teacher, vice-principal and principal with the UCDSB said she was extremely proud to be part of a board that goes the “extramile” to support all students through the work of C4K. “There is some- thing deeply touching about students, staff, parents, and community members coming together to help children in a difficult time,” said Dufort. “I am humbled to have served as the President of C4K and I want to thank our volunteers, the UCDSB family and our communities for all their support, genero- sity, caring and acts of kindness.” “I believe that as a team, we have remai- ned focused on our goal and purpose which is to serve and support at-risk kids in crisis, and in challenging times.” Dufort worked at a number of schools during her career in education, most recently at Chimo Elementary School in Smiths Falls and Caldwell Street Public School in Carle- ton Place. Currently, she is employed as an education officer with the Ministry of Edu- cation and will be retiring from the position in January. She officially retired from the board in October 2016.
