Gym Cats • AGES 1-6 Your budding gymnast will love this exciting prelude to gymnastics! The program has been improved to better accommodate children at all levels. Students should wear comfortable clothing and nonslip socks or go barefoot. Children participating without an adult must be toilet-trained. (dn) GYM KITTENS WITH PARENT • AGES: 1-2 Watch your little gymnast fall in love with this introduction to gymnastics. This program works on large and small muscle exercises on beam, bars, vault and floor, incorporating muscle movement, balance and hand-eye coordination. Coach helps parents move their children through obstacle courses, climbing, crawling and rolling as they experience the joy of gymnastics. Parent participation is required. There must be one parent in the gym per participant. GYM CATS: GYM CUBS WITH PARENT • AGE: 2 Our coach-led program helps parents work with their children in all areas of the gym. Every week children work large muscle groups on our obstacle courses, tumble track and foam pit. Balance and hand-eye coordination and muscle group coordination are encouraged on balance beam, parallel and uneven bars and vault. Curriculum includes introduction of forward and backward rolls, pre-handstand and cartwheel movement. Parent participation required. There must be one parent in the gym per participant. GYM CATS: GYM CUBS • AGES 3-4½ Body awareness, muscle movement, balance and hand-eye coordination are emphasized as students learn gymnastics through play. Children work on tumbling, balance beam, bars, vault and rings modified for size and skill. Small class size allows the coach the opportunity to work with children at their own speed as they are instructed on all events in the gym. This program is designed for the three-year-old ready to be in the gym without a parent and the four-year-old who may have reservations about working alone. GYM CATS: GYM TIGERS LEVEL 1 • AGES 4-5 Kids have fun in the gym learning the basics of each event - tumbling, bars, vault and beam. They work on balance, coordination, strength and independence while working small and large muscle groups on equipment modified for size and strength. GYM CATS: GYM TIGERS LEVEL 2 • AGES 4-5 Ready to work on more precise and challenging skills? Gymnasts must master a particular set of skills on all events including tumbling to be moved up to Level 2. Coaches concentrate on making sure the gymnast is executing good form while building more strength and more advanced skills. Instructors reserve the right to move the gymnast to an appropriate program if they believe placement is incorrect. GYM CATS: GYM LIONS LEVEL 1 • AGES 5-6 (By Sept. 1, 2025) Gymnastics for the kindergarten crowd works the gymnast at a little harder pace than the Gym Tigers program. Classes take a fun approach to learning gymnastics using games and drills. Self-discipline and body awareness is more heavily emphasized as is focusing on the precision that helps gymnasts transition to a grade school gymnastics program. Gymnasts participate in Gym Lions Level 1 and, with coach approval, participate in Gym Lions Level 2 for the whole year they are in Kindergarten. They move to Gymnastics: Level 1 when they enter first grade. GYM CATS: GYM LIONS LEVEL 2 • AGES 5-6 (By Sept. 1, 2025) This more advanced kindergarten program helps young gymnasts focus on building strength, endurance, body awareness and coordination. They also work on understanding good form and acquiring more difficult skills. Coaches notify you when your gymnast is ready to move to this program; there are specific skills the gymnast must be able to perform on all events. Instructors reserve the right to move the gymnast to an appropriate program if they believe placement is incorrect.
