MESSAGE FROM REV. PETE D. LITERAL Chaplain of The Filipino Council of Archdiocese of Baltimore, MD Pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church - Hydes. MD
Dear Esteemed Guests, Teams, and Sponsors,
It is with immense joy and gratitude that we extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you to the 13th Annual Filipino Fiesta Celebration to honor our Filipino Saints: San Lorenzo Ruiz, and San Pedro Calungsod. Today, we come together not only to revel in the joy of this vibrant event but also to express our deepest devotion to God for the blessing we have received through the 125 years of independence of our country, the Philippines. Now we are free to live our lives as grateful people, a Eucharistic community of God. I also want to thank our benefactor and sponsors. Your unwavering support has been the cornerstone of this event. Your commitment to our vision has allowed us to bring this celebration to life, and we are profoundly grateful for your trust and partnership. Your contributions have not only helped us organize this incredible Fiesta but have also enriched our community and brought joy to countless lives. As we gather here today to dance, feast, and celebrate, let us not forget the spirit of harmony, faith, and gratitude that binds us together. It is through collaboration and shared dedication that we can create moments like these, which enrich our lives and strengthen the bonds of our community. So, I give kudos to the leadership team of Filipino Council of Archdiocese of Baltimore, led by Atty. John Smith, Esq., the mission partners, and working teams. I say thank you sincerely. Your hard work, generosity, and belief in our mission have made this Fiesta Celebration a reality. Let's make lasting memories that will carry us forward with renewed enthusiasm. Let's make this a day filled with laughter, joy, and a deep appreciation for all those who have made it possible.
With heartfelt gratitude,
o

Dear Brothers and Sisters:
On June 12th of this year, we celebrated the 125th year of Philippine Independence, the beginning of a new nation, and freedom from oppression.
Today, on October 1, 2023, we celebrate the 13th Fiesta of Two Saints. Each of us today has the freedom to be a Eucharistic people, the freedom to lead a Eucharistic life, the freedom to be a courageous missionary disciple leading our families, workplaces, churches, and communities to everlasting life. Such is not easy, as we all know. Distractions, hard times, a hedonistic and agnostic culture all around us, busy schedules, and the effort required to cope with the demands of daily life can be overwhelming. Above all this, however, is the love of our Lord. He has given us the tools to get through it. We need to use them: prayer, meditation, and above all, a blessed encounter in the reception of the body and blood of our Lord in the sacrifice of the mass, the greatest gift of all.
We also must not forget the example of our two great saints and martyrs, San Lorenzo Ruiz and San Pedro Calunsod. They are heroic examples of missionary discipleship.
Thanks to all of you and the grace of God, it has been an awesome 13 years since our humble beginning in 2010. This Commemorative Book attempts to capture some of the highlights that have been caught in pictures over the years. Sincerest thanks to the officers, working team leaders and team members, coordinators, mission partners, parish representatives, and sponsors for your dedication, hard work, bayanihan spirit, and financial support. Without you, our accomplishments over the last 13 years could not have happened.
I especially thank Fr Pete Literal for his energetic and proactive leadership in guiding and inspiring us. Thanks also to Fr Jojo, Fr Rey, Fr Jan, and Fr Wenci for their terrific support.
San Lorenzo Ruiz, pray for us. San Pedro Calungsod, pray for us.

Filipino Council of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Inc. Mission Statement
The Council was formed to perform three principal missions:
(1) To strengthen the faith of our Filipino-American constituents and to share that vibrant faith with others. Based on the foundation of the rich Catholic legacy of faith in the culture of the Filipino people, the Council seeks to bring about in all Catholics in the archdiocese such an enthusiasm for their faith, that, in living their faith in Jesus, they freely share it with all others; (2) To act as the conduit for communications between the Archbishop and Filipinos in the Archdiocese. The Council is a recognized consultative body to the Archbishop of Baltimore, serving organizationally under the Department of Evangelization of the Archdiocese. (3) To foster loyalty, solidarity, unity, and mutual support among all its people and their organizations and parishes. Representing the Filipino Catholic Community in the Archdiocese of Baltimore through the Department of Evangelization, the Council works to promote Filipino Catholic values and active participation in the life of the local Church, solidarity among all Filipino Catholic organizations, and commitment of Filipino groups towards the continuing mission of the church in the archdiocese of Baltimore.
Historical Summary Brief
For the past twelve years, we have been able to honor our two Filipino Saints, San Lorenzo Ruiz and San Pedro Calungsod with a regional Archdiocesan Filipino Fiesta celebration. We also have put together our Filipino Leadership Assembly for Renewal and Empowerment (FLARE) program which seeks to provide inspiration, practical tips, and empowerment to our people to be strong missionary disciple leaders in their families, churches, organizations, communities, and workplaces. Also, in December of each year, during advent, we have been bringing together families and individuals in the archdiocese for the great tradition of "Simbang Gabi." We have encouraged unity and solidarity unity among our organizations and parishes, helping each other flourish and grow, all of us contributing to, and supporting, each other. We have also provided disaster relief to our people in the Philippines to help those affected by typhoons including Super-Typhoon Hyan in 2013, and the eruption of the Taal Volcano in 2020, and other worthy causes.
Formation In the beginning, there was Jesus Our Lord, and a few disciples:
In the beginning, in 2011, Fr Pete Literal and a few others decided to celebrate the feast of San Lorenzo Ruiz. And they decided to invite a few acquaintances. The First Fiesta–San Lorenzo Ruiz That first Fiesta celebration on a rainy day in September 2011 was the start of what has been and what we hope will continue to be, Praise the Lord, a powerful and lasting movement.
In , the Filipino Council of the Archdiocese of Baltimore was founded. 2012 The Filipino Council The council was endowed with already outstanding religious & civic organizations & individuals who now continue to unselfishly lead and serve.

Our Pledge
As disciples of Jesus, we unite ourselves to the mission of the Archdiocese of Baltimore in the works of: Evangelization : to create events and encounters to evangelize ourselves, others, and particularly, the Filipino community, to become bold missionary evangelizers. Liturgy : to celebrate our faith with joy through vibrant and prayerful worship and rich Filipino devotions and culture; to use our popular religious traditions as "events of encounter" with God and portals of holiness. Education : to educate, and be transformed into the truths of the Gospel. Service : to reach out in love and service to those in need as determined by each mission partner. The Council commits to help mission partners in charitable services and outreaches. Stewardship : to share material, financial and human resources of the community in the work of Christ and the church. United : as "one people" and as "partners on mission", we stand and commit to the mission of our church.
A Mission Partnership
In the spirit of unity, we come together to build partnerships that nurture a thriving Eucharistic community. Together, we are stronger, and together, we shine brighter. Hand-in-hand, heart in heart, we forge partnerships to create an unbreakable bond within our Eucharistic community. Let us be the architects of "unity and love." The bonds we create through partnerships are the heartbeat of Eucharistic community life. With every connection, we breathe life into our shared journey of faith. Together, we are the architects of a stronger, more vibrant Eucharistic community. We are stronger individually and as a community. Let us help and support each other and embrace the power of partnership and watch our faith flourish. Vibrant Faith. As God blesses us with faith, we give thanks to God by sharing this faith with others. We strive to enrich and educate others we encounter in daily life by our actions, example, and by our words. This is our charter, and our mission in life. Solidarity. The success of Filipino ministry depends upon a unified response to the call of Jesus. Together, in unity and harmony, we become strong and powerful in an environment of diverse culture and people. We must love one another, as God loves us. Service. Faith without good works is dead. When we serve others, we encounter and serve God.
