Thyen Simmentals / Solsaa Angus - Annual Joint Production Sale [2/21/26]

A LEGACY IN EVERY HERD REMEMBERING RON THYEN & CHARLIE TESCH In February 2025, the Thyen Simmental family farm as well as the Simmental community lost two pillars of strength, wisdom, leadership and friendship While their absence is felt daily, Their influence is seen in every calf we raise and every handshake we make. We dedicate this year’s production sale to the men who taught us that the cattle business is about much more than just the cattle. It’s about the people and the legacy you leave behind.

Ron Thyen: The Foundation The story of Thyen Simmental began in 1974 with Ron’s vision and a deep-rooted commitment to the land. To Dad, the work was about more than just the show ring; it was about "making better dirt," feeding cattle well, and building a program that could sustain a family for generations. He was a steady presence and a teacher who lived by the rule of quiet persistence. Whenever a task seemed too big, he would remind us: "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time." Today, although our hearts are heavy, we continue to chew and celebrate how special “Dad” and “RT” was. Charlie Tesch: The Partner & Friend Beyond the family, the success of this program was shaped by the sharp mind and loyal friendship of Charlie Tesch. As a dear friend and cattle partner, Charlie was a pivotal sounding board for strategy, market trends, and show ring excellence. His passion for the industry was infectious, and his role as a mentor helped push our family’s growth at winter farm shows for years. Charlie wasn't just a partner in the cattle; he was a partner in the dream. His loss was a profound blow, but his strategic spirit, influence on our herd, and most of all his friendship will continue to ride with us.
