Celebrate Fall Safely WITH THESE GREAT LOCAL EVENTS

ALEXANDRIA GHOST TOURS If you’re looking for something a little more spooky to help you celebrate Halloween, then the Alexandra ghost and graveyard tour is right up your alley. And this season, they’re offering safe, limited-capacity walking tours as well as virtual tours. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights throughout October, you can follow a guide by lantern light through the streets of Alexandria’s historic Old Town district. They’ll share ghost stories, legends, folklore, unsolved mysteries, and tales of angry ghosts who haunt the area. Visit AlexColonialTours.com to learn more and purchase tickets.

VIRTUAL BALTIMORE RUNNING FESTIVAL Often touted as one of the best races on the East Coast, the Baltimore Running Festival traditionally draws in thousands of participants, but this year, the event is going virtual! That means anyone can participate by just getting out and running or walking. On Oct. 17, runners will take to the streets of their choice and record times for their 5K, 10K, half-marathon, marathon, and even longer options for those wanting an extra challenge. With their Run for a Cause program, participants can choose to run for a number of charities such as the American Cancer Society or One Hope. Visit TheBaltimoreMarathon.com to learn more or sign up. Whichever activities you decide to participate in this season, just remember to follow recommended safety guidelines and protocols to keep yourself, your family, and those around you safe to continue participating in future events.

There’s a reason so many people love fall — it’s the changing leaves, the cooler temperatures, the seasonal food, and the fact that Halloween and Thanksgiving are right around the corner. Here are some great (and safe) events and activities near Montgomery County, Maryland that you can enjoy this month. PUMPKIN HARVEST DAYS AT BUTLER’S ORCHARD If you haven’t explored Butler’s Orchard in Germantown, then the fall season is the perfect time. This family farm boasts over 300 acres that grow more than 25 varieties of fruits, vegetables, flowers, and trees that groups can make reservations to see anytime, but one of their biggest events of the year is the Pumpkin Harvest Days festival. Through Nov. 1, your family can participate in safe, socially distanced activities like corn mazes, hayrides, haunted bonfires, and of course, pumpkin picking. Visit ButlersOrchard.com to learn more and make reservations to pick the perfect pumpkin.
