DON’T BYPASS LAKE COMO Located at the foot of the Italian Alps, approximately 45 kilometres from Milan, Lake Como is surrounded by one of the most picturesque landscapes in the world. With a surface area of 146 square metres, in the shape of an inverted letter Y, it is the third largest lake in Italy. Reaching a maximum depth of 410 metres, it is also among the deepest lakes in Europe. The lake was already popular for rest and relaxation during the period of the Roman Empire, which is why the area was even visited by Julius Caesar himself, while over later centuries it attracted famous composers, novelists, poets and painters. It remains popular today among fashion designers, Hollywood stars, politicians and businesspeople... Occupying the central part of the lake, where its three branches come together, is Bellagio, a commune that’s known as “the Pearl of the Lake” and the “Italian Beverly Hills”. Undoubtedly among the most beautiful villages in Europe, its characteristic cobblestone streets and stairways host many shops, bars and restaurants, while it is also home to the fantastic Villa Melzi and the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni. As you return to Lake Como from Bellagio, you will pass through interesting villages like Nesso, with its spectacular waterfall and bridge, as your view extends to the majestic city of Como itself...
