FOR FEBRUARY

We will turn the “I” around and see if it tells us anything more about Israel. Yes, we find the word “UN FAITHFUL.” Whenever you find un belief in the life of any people, you will find them unfaithful to God. No matter which way you turn the “ I,” these two facts remain. It is sad when unbelief and its twin, unfaithfulness, are found,' for God said of Israel, “Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that pro voked me see it” (Num. 14:23). What should be done when unbe lief is found in the heart? It should be confessed, and when this is done, the' Lord will take it away. Here is a piece of red paper, which suggests the blood of a lamb. I am going to put it over the top of the “I.” (Remove the slip with the letters “U” and “N” under cover of the red slip.) Look at what has happened. We no longer see “UNBELIEF and UNFAITHFUL.” In their stead, we read “BELIEF and FAITHFUL.” God said of Caleb: “Because he had another spirit with him, and hath fallowed me fully, him will I bring into the land” (Num. 14:24);

ALL WAYS.” The history of the child ren of Israel gives us abundant proof of this fact. When they forgot God’s feast days and sabbaths, then judg ment soon came. We who are living today are not expected to keep the ancient feasts of Israel, but there is a day which we are expected to keep, and that is Sunday, the Lord’s day. Judgment has and will come to the people who fail to worship God on His day.

First Week H oliday or H oly D ay

Second Week C ursed or C ured

Objects: Two pieces of paper 8% x 11 inches. (Fold each end to within V* inch of the middle, leaving a gap of Vi inch. In this space on one piece of paper, print the words “HOLY DAY,” and on the other “HOLIDAY.” Open the first, and using the letters of the words “HOLY DAY,” complete the fol lowing, “WORSHIP ON LORD’S DAYS, BLESSED ALL DAYS.” On the other piece of paper, using the letters in the word “HOLIDAY,” complete the following, “JEHOVAH’S WOR SH I P NEGLECTED BRINGS J UDGMENT ALL WAYS.” ) Lesson: While these two pieces of paper look alike, they are very differ ent, as we shall see upon examination. First, we shall look at the one marked “HOLY DAY.” Before opening it, let us remind ourselves that there were many days in the life of the children of Israel which were holy days, at which times they were com manded to keep certain feasts. Some of the feasts were: the Passover, Pente cost, Tabernacles and Trumpets. In Leviticus 23:44, we read, “And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of the Lord.”- Promises of great blessings were given to God’s people, providing they kept the feasts. Now, let us open this paper and see what it says. We read, “WORSHIP ON LORD’S DAYS, BLESSED ALL DAYS.” While Israel kept the feast daysl they were blessed by the Lord. The second paper has the word “HOLIDAY” written on it. It is sad but true that it is possible to make a holy day a holiday. We will open this paper and see what happens to those who do this. We read, “JEHOVAH’S WORSHIP NEGLECTED BRINGS J UDGMENT

Object: A capital “I” cut from card board. (The “ I” should be 10 inches high, with cross arms 1 inch deep, and upright 1 inch wide. Print the word “FAITHFUL” on one side and the word “BELIEF” on the other side, starting about 2Vt inches from the top of each side. Take a piece of paper 1 x 5 inches and fold in the middle. Place the fold over the top of the “I,” allowing the ends to come down to the words “BELIEF AND FAITHFUL” on each side. On each side of this paper, print the letters “U” and “N,” making the words on the “I,” “UNBELIEF AND UNFAITHFUL.” Cut another piece of p a p e r the same size, fold the same as before and color the outside red. Begin the lesson with the “I” reading “UNBE LIEF AND UNFAITHFUL.” ) Lesson: This large capital “I” is to remind us of God’s people, Israel. It is too bad to start with it marked, "UNBELIEF,” but this is the condi tion in which God often found them, for in Numbers 14:11 we read, “And the Lord said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me?”

Third Week W ords of W isdom

Object: A piece of paper SVi x 11 inches. (Fold each end to within 14 inch of the middle, leaving a gap of Vt inch. In this gap print the word “STATUTES.” Open the paper, and using the letters in the word “STA TUTES,” complete the f o l l o w i n g words, “ ISRAEL TOLD HEARKEN UN TO INSTRUCTIONS THAT LENGTHEN DAYS.” Trim the top of this sheet to represent the two tables of the law. To the left of the gap print Roman numerals I to V. To the right, numer als VI to X.)
