THE MULTIFACETED NEW MISS TEEN PRESCOTT-RUSSELL 2019

On top of being a hard-working athlete, a self-taught artist and an enthused com- munity volunteer, 14-year-old Kaleigh Allard now has one more item to add to her resume: Miss Teen Prescott-Russell 2019. The young girl from Hawkesbury was re- cently crowned Miss Teen Prescott-Russell, on her way to representing the region at the Miss Teen Ontario East Pageant in May. “I’m very lucky to have found her here in Hawkesbury,” said Lynn Gauvreau, Direc- tor of T-Era Models Canada and Kaleigh’s pageant coach. “Kaleigh really complimented everything that I was looking for and she understands my vision of being Miss Teen Prescott-Russell and how you become an ambassador and a voice for teens.” There is no doubt that Kaleigh has what it takes to be a role model for younger girls in the community. She strikes a balance between a teen- ager interested in fashion and beauty, but also in sports. She plays basketball for the Hawkesbury Selects and participates in school sports at Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute. Kaleigh is also an artist – she is most interested in drawing portraits, a school that she says she taught herself. She also spends some of her free time volunteering at the Vankleek Hill Sports Club. “There are so many activities here that we can help encourage,” said Kaleigh. “I want to promote tourism in Prescott-Russell.” Diagnosed with Type I Diabetes about three years ago, Kaleigh has become more responsible than most other 14-year-olds and has had to overcome the struggles of needing to adapt her way of life. She plans on working closely with her coach to embrace her role as an ambassador representative of the region, hopefully inspiring other young girls to pursue their dreams. Kaleigh and her coach also intend to organize fundraisers and meet and greets, to both help Kaleigh raise money for the Miss Ontario East Pageant and to introduce the Miss Teen Prescott-Russell to the community, especially the youth. Anyone interested can contact Lynn Gauvreau at info@teramodels.

—photo fournie
