Once again this year’s Remembrance Day Ceremony in Russell Village was large, with participation from Veterans, the Canadian Forces, the RCMP, the OPP, local dignitaries, Russell Fire Department, 5 Cyclone Squadron Air Cadets, Knights of Columbus, representatives from service organizations and businesses, and from the general public, which came out in force. Canadian Forces Leitrim soldiers lay a wreath at the Remembrance Day Ceremony held in front of the Cenotaph at the Russell Legion on November 11. Many CF members joined the parade before the ceremony and others, several of whom live in the area, were present in the audience.

Canadian Property Stars and Habitat for Humanity have teamed up this Christmas to raise $25,000 for the Ottawa-area chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Canadian Property Stars is selling toys in various locations across Canada. The profits on the toys go back to Habitat for Humanity, and if anyone buys a toy then donates it back on the spot the toy goes to Toy Mountain, creating a double donation. Shown here is Andrew MacDonald, inside the Embrun LCBO store. He was one of several volunteers in Embrun on the weekend of of November 10 and 11.
