Coriant in the groove with G30 DCI Coriant’s new Groove G30 DCI platform offers 3.2Tb/s of capacity in a compact and stackable one rack-unit (1RU) box and provides up to six times higher system density and 70 per cent lower power consumption than comparable products, the company says.

The FTBx-740C-DWC by Exfo, for high-resolution tunable DWDM OTDR EXFO recently announced the release of its new FTBx-740C- DWC, a high-resolution, tunable OTDR providing troubleshooting of metro Ethernet links in commercial services, like FTTB, FTTP and CBH.

The Groove G30 DCI simplifies provisioning of 10G, 40G, and 100G wide area network (WAN) cloud connectivity services in metro, regional, and long haul DCI applications, whilst operating “the industry’s most compelling pay-as-you-grow approach that enables the lowest start-up costs, cost-effective scalability, and reduced equipment sparing costs.” An approach that delivers low first cost for 10G, 40G, and 100G services. Stand 1321 Diamond announce the HE-2000™ - An innovative solution for demanding applications. Connectors designed for use in harsh environments must be able to withstand conditions beyond those

The FTBx-740C-DWC covers channel spacing of 100 GHz/50 GHz based on the ITU-T standard grid and offers a high dynamic range for improved performance and the long reach needed to cover metro/long-haul applications. Stéphane Chabot, Vice-President of EXFO’s Physical-Layer Test Division, said the FTBx-740C-DWC OTDR provides “comprehensive validation and fault-finding of the physical layer, along with Ethernet service assessment from 10M to 100G to ensure SLAs from day one. Featuring a 10-inch touchscreen, modularity, Windows 8 and commodity applications, this performance combo offers validation and scalability of Ethernet services for high-quality networks.” Stand 2119 LightSmyth introduce breakthrough nanophotonic products

typically endured in standard assemblies and Diamond have responded to the growing demand for more rugged and reliable solutions by developing the HE- 2000™ push-pull actuating harsh environment connector. A customisable indoor/outdoor solution, the HE-2000™ connector is built

around the Diamond Multipurpose (DM) insert and incorporates four terminal points that use Diamond’s two-component ferrules and are assembled with the company’s Active Core Alignment (ACA) process for superior fibre core concentricity. The product boasts easy ferrule front-face access for cleaning and inspection, a push-pull mechanism for easy mating and handling, simple termini insertion and removal for field termination and repair, plus mechanical and colour coding (on request). The optical and electrical termini are protected from dust and water using a unique automatic protection shutter on the plug connector and a manual shutter on the bulkhead receptacle. The splice-on termini can be field terminated using Diamond’s ZEUS D50 HE fusion splicer, allowing for in-service repairs and special installations. The Diamond Multipurpose (DM) insert offers precise and repeatable pre-alignment, with interacting, space saving pre-aligned hollow guide pins and resilient alignment sleeves which can be individually removed for easy cleaning. All elements are protected from external inclufences. The HE-2000™ connector is available for MM, SM (PC/APC) small- core, single mode fibre, polarisation-maintaining (PM) fibre and other specialty fibre types. Also available are electrical contacts for hybrid E/O applications. Stand 2109

Diffractive optics for telecom, datacom and other applications is now offered by LightSmyth, a Finisar company. The products utilise principles of computer generated holography to create arbitrary beamshaping and wavefront transformation to produce lenses, phase plates, beamsplitters, CGH and focusing diffraction gratings. Several optical functions may be combined on a single optical surface with no limitation on minimum component size. The advantages are low cost, wafer scale mass production capability, high performance, high power damage threshold and environmental stability. The diffractive structures are etched directly into fused silica or other materials. No organic materials are used. Stand 2305
