In the UK, Ahmad Tea has supported the Southampton General Hospital, Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, Stroke Association, Alzheimer’s Society, Parklife Community action café, Macmillan Cancer Support, Make a Wish Foundation and the Murray Parish Trust which fundraises for the Southampton Paediatric unit. Ebraham Afshar, Managing Director of Ahmad Tea says: “As a company, giving back is part of our DNA, so being recognised in such a prestigious way is a dream come true. We try to make a difference in all of the markets where we source, pack and sell our tea and we owe so much to so many people in our supply chain, for their support. I would like to dedicate this award to our staff and partners who work tirelessly to support projects like these. The incredible impact would have not been possible without their determination to make a difference.” With four generations of experience in the tea industry, the company’s sustainability journey is here for the long-term. Its mission is simple: to inspire the love of tea and hope to inspire people to create a better in the world every day – simply through the act of enjoying a cup of tea. Sustainable tea production For the third year running, Ahmad Tea has been awarded a gold rating from EcoVadis, the world’s most trusted business sustainability ratings. This award puts the company in the top 3% of manufacturing companies globally. In collaboration with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, Ahmad Tea has also developed and launched a collaborative bespoke tea range: Beyond the Leaf. Through this range it has contributed £180,000 to Kew’s research aimed at preventing biodiversity loss. In 2024, it announced the launch of a new climate resilience PhD scholarship in partnership with the world-renowned University of Bristol, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka and the Tea Research Institute of Sri Lanka. The PhD researcher will identify tea varieties that will thrive in the conditions expected as the earth’s weather patterns change. Conscious distribution Ahmad Tea works exclusively with one distributor in each country, which enables it to extend its impact and co-fund local projects that are close to its heart. The team say: “Supplying tea across the world has opened our eyes to just how far our positive impact can travel. Together with our distributors, we invest in local charity projects making change where it matters most.”
