The King's Awards Magazine 2024

In the face of escalating global challenges driven by a growing population and demand for food, Cocogreen is a pioneering force in the burgeoning Clean Tech sector. As a two-time winner of the International Trade Award, Cocogreen is celebrating a journey of consistent global expansion, reshaping the landscape of crop cultivation across the world. Cocogreen utilises coconut husks, traditionally discarded as waste material, and transforms them into a high-performance substrate. The world’s leading hi-tech food growers plant their crops into it as a source of water and nutrients. Co-founders Dr Sudesh Fernando and Thomas Ogden started Cocogreen in 2010, with a commitment to social responsibility and environmental stewardship. Cocogreen’s mission is to unlock the potential of renewable resources, empowering food growers to forge a more sustainable future for people and planet. This ESG impact is exemplified in its patented Moisture Control Technology (MCT), an innovation led by Dr Fernando that tackles water management challenges in agriculture. MCT promotes consistent moisture levels throughout the substrate, fostering optimal root development, minimising water usage and elevating crop yield and quality. FACT

The decision taken by FACT’s CEO, Kieron Sharp, to diversify the organisation’s services and create FACT Worldwide has, in less than a decade, been rewarded with phenomenal growth and the most prestigious prize in British business. Established in 1983 and based in Twickenham, FACT was already globally renowned for protecting the intellectual property of the film and TV industry and the sports rights sector. In 2016, it began to offer new services designed to mitigate risk in citizenship or residency by investment for governments. These included financial investigations for banks and asset management firms; complex multi-jurisdictions investigative work for law firms; C-suite and executive background vetting and workplace investigations for UK and multi-national companies; and analysis and verification for high-net-worth individuals (HNWI). In 2021, FACT also acquired Morris Chase International, a boutique investigations company with a client base of over 40 law firms, to assist the team with due diligence, anti-money laundering and ‘know your customer’ work. FACT’s sales growth of 327.48% in the last three years alone proves that the trust it has gained over more than four decades has become deeper and more impactful. With FACT’s expertise being sought across continents, it’s also meant that Kieron, a

former senior Metropolitan Police and City of London Police detective, has had to grow his staff from 38 people to more than 120, who collectively speak 40 different languages. Kieron says: “It was our employees’ deep knowledge and exceptional skills that allowed FACT to develop into these new areas. Winning a King’s Award for Enterprise is a remarkable achievement, which recognises our unwavering commitment to excellence in all aspects of our business and is a testament to the outstanding dedication of the whole team. This award strengthens our reputation as a dynamic and innovative company with a very exciting future.” That future includes not only growing FACT’s due diligence division, but also an increasing

emphasis on digital forensics. Kieron adds: “For a long time, we’ve had this specialised area as an in- house service supporting our IP work, but with our expertise it makes sense to offer it commercially and provide us with the opportunity for greater growth.” As the digital revolution gathers pace, those who seek to dissemble and deceive those who are trying to provide confidence and transparency should beware FACT’s truth-seeking team.
