p e l , by W; J. Wray, M.A.,. published by The Religious Tract Society, London. Psychology is, without question, one of the most interesting questions engaging the thinking of our day. Here are three hooks from different points of view, all of which are approaching the subject from the standpoint of the Christian interpre tation. , The first is from the point of view of the philosophical and theological psychol ogist, who brings Christian experience to the test of Psychology. The author makes a strong case against mechanistic, psy chology, but his book is rather from the modernistic point of view. It is intended for ‘the student of Philosophy and Psy chology, rather than for the average man. The second book, which is by Dr. Rob inson, is true to fundamental Christianity and has many interesting things in it, but we feel that it is the working of a theory rather than a constructive study of the real psychology of 1faith. The writer’s hobby is triunity. . The third book by Professor Wray is a genuinely helpful book on Psychology, The writer is, a careful and intelligent student of the subject and at the same time a ‘devout believer who is faithful to the Gospel. His short and gripping chap ters are genuinely illuminating on the subject of. Christian Psychology. He takes the outstanding ideas with which psychologists are dealing and he shows how the things that are true in them are in the gospels and more comprehensively stated there than ,in any other place. Each chapter is followed by a brief, but very suggestive prayer. The book is full of seed thoughts . for the thoughtful preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There are few books on Psychology that we feel we can heartily recommend, and this is one of them,—J. M. M. Two hundred and twelve spiritual songs appear in this new edition by Mr. Clarke, the well known Welsh evangelis tic singer. The modern “jazzy” type of Gospel hymns has no appeal to Mr. Clarke, and in giving us a collection of the more useful of the solid hymns, he is rendering a real service in these days. Mr. Clarke’s chorus; “Into My Heart,” which has become popular throughout the country, is printed on the back cover of the book. It can be obtained in either cloth or paper.—K. L. B. Horatio V. Gard sent us a book en titled, “Man,” publishedjby the “Golden Rule Magazine” and asked us to read it carefully in order that we might be able to give it a fair review. It claims to be a brief interpretation of man’s creation, his psychology and his destiny, with sug gestions on the practical application of psychic laws. All that is necessary for us to say is that Mr. Gard believes that a greater book than the Bible is to be produced and that while Jesus was far in advance of His contemporaries, He .was by no means fully, evolved. He says, “Without doubt Jesus fell much short of the perfect ideal depicted in the original image of man held by the universal spirit.
