FitnessMatters_Relieving Your Knee and Hip Pain

KATI RICHARDS, STAFF SPOTLIGHT

During these challenging times, we recognize that you may not be able to visit our clinics for your physical therapy. But delaying or even missing one or two sessions can have unintended consequences, requiring a longer recovery period. Just because you can’t get to our clinic, doesn’t mean that we can’t come to you virtually, right in the comfort of your own home! Telehealth lets you continue connecting - and working with - your physical therapist to get you the help that you need. Essentially, telehealth is a way for your therapist to evaluate your movement, discuss your symptoms and progression, and work with you one- on-one. With telehealth, your physical therapist can provide you with functional movement exercises to relieve pain and improve your ability to move pain-free, all from a remote location. Have a question you need to ask your physical therapist? Looking for advice about your current condition?Want to track the progress you’ve beenmaking? Telehealthmakes all of this possible for you, while still ensuring that you are safely distancing at home! As of May 4th, we have gradually and safely begun to resume some of our services. We are excited to offer virtual appointments for those that can’tmake it to an in-person appointment. By continuing your personalized treatment plans at home, you can keep up with your progress. For more information on our telehealth services and how they may benefit you, contact us today at Worthington (614-841-3900) or Grandview (614-487-9715). BEAT SPRING ALLERGIES 3 NATURAL WAYS TO BEAT SPRING ALLERGIES

DIRECT ACCESS WHAT DOES IT MEAN? Physical Therapy is Easier to Get Than You Think! • A physician referral • Therapy may begin

1. Limit your time outdoors. Each spring, trees release billions of tiny pollen grains into the air. When you breathe them into your nose and lungs, they can trigger an allergic reaction. Staying inside can help, especially on windy days and during the early morning hours, when pollen counts are highest. 2. Get natural relief. Some herbal remedies may help stave off allergy symptoms. More research is needed, but an extract from a shrub called butterbur shows promise. Biminne, a Chinese herbal formula with ingredients like Ginkgo biloba and Chinese skullcap, may also help. One study found that people who took biminne five times a day for 12 weeks still felt the benefits a year later. 3. Tweak your home. Simple changes make a difference. Shut all windows to keep out pollen. Use an air conditioner to cool your home instead of a fan, which draws in air from outside.
