2024 Sustainability Impact Report

A CLOSER LOOK

Leather Circularity

Leather is durable and highly functional with a longer life cycle compared to other materials, with the ability to be repaired, reused, redesigned, and recycled into new products.

Through a related program, we developed a product to recycle and sustainably redesign our onsite leather sample waste into a new sheet good we call Habitat, proving that scrap doesn’t have to end up in the landfill. The innovative process is free of the typical PVC or polyurethane typically found in recycled leather products. Habitat is manufactured domestically using Moore & Giles scrap leather combined with a water-based blend of FDA approved and plant-derived ingredients. This mixture is pressed and dried into sheets, producing a final product suitable for leather accessories and upholstery.

This program is still a work in progress, as we continue to explore the possibilities of this process as a solution to post industrial (cutting room) waste and more.
