LOVESHACKFANCY OPENS FIRST ALABAMA STORE AT THE SUMMIT IN BIRMINGHAM The Summit just got a whole lot more fancy with the addition of LoveShackFancy, a popular vintage-inspired lifestyle brand created to “celebrate love and revel in the beauty of a flower-filled, rose- colored world,” their website declares. The late summer 2026 opening marks LoveShackFancy’s first Alabama location. Located next door to Madewell, all 2,000 square feet are filled with clothing for women and kids (infant–age 14), home and beauty products, and more. The lifestyle brand has been taking over the fashion industry ever since it was founded by fashion and beauty editor Rebecca Hessel Cohen in 2013. You won’t want to miss this new store with its whimsical designs, darling patterns, and happy colors.

Photo by Junior Achievement of Alabama THE NEW JA MCWANE ECONOMIC EDUCATION CENTER IS TEACHING KIDS HOW TO RUN BUSINESSES AND MANAGE MONEY A new chapter in student learning has begun in downtown Birmingham as Junior Achievement of Alabama (JA) officially unveiled the Junior Achievement McWane Economic Education Center. The $18 million, 30,000-square-foot, state- of-the-art facility is located at 581 22nd Street North and promises transformational, hands-on learning experiences for thousands of students each year.
“This is not just a ribbon cutting—it’s the opening of opportunity,” says Chip Reed, president of Junior Achievement of Alabama. “The Junior Achievement McWane Economic Education Center is going to change the trajectory of tens of thousands of young people by giving them the confidence, knowledge, and skills to thrive. You can see it, feel it, and experience it the moment you walk through the doors.” The facility aims to serve 20,000 students annually, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world application. Supported by a $4 million lead investment from Will & Kaitlin McWane and the McWane Family, the Center offers two primary immersive programs for Birmingham students. The first is JA BizTown, presented by EBSCO, where students run a fully interactive mini-city as CEOs, employees, and consumers. The second program is JA Finance Park, presented by Regions, where they navigate real-life financial decisions through a high-impact simulation. Together, these hands-on experiences allow middle-school grade students to practice real-world skills—everything from how to balance your checkbook to what their day-to-day life could be like as a news anchor, graphic designer, or nutritionist.
Discover how your school can visit JA McWane Economic Education Center by calling (205) 290-9365 or visiting alabama.ja.org.
