How Can a Man Be Just W ith God? Y ou and I want a way of life that has real inner peace. That’s only natural. Under the normal stress and strain of mod em day living all of us at times have a tendency of coming apart at the seams. And during such periods of stress and strain all of us long instinctively for security within. We may never tell another person about our longing. We may appear calm and serene to those about us. But the longing for inner peace is there. Most experts on the subject of inner peace—doctors, m in isters, psychologists—seem to agree that the basic step toward gaining peace of mind and soul is a proper relationship with God.. But it is one thing to be told the solution and it is another thing to be able to experience the solution. Over 3,000 years ' ag° Job, as recorded in he Old Testament, said, “but how should man be just with God?” That’s a good question Job asked. It shows some hard, clear thinking that few of us would dare endure. We are told that Job was what we would call a perfect citizen. Yet he knew he was only human. There was sin in his life. And he knew he couldn’t be just with God unless there was something done about that sin. Socrates was perhaps one of our greatest philosophical thinkers. He said several hundred years before Christ, “I know God can forgive sin but I don’t see how.” Read that statement again. It’s another example of hard, clear thinking. The great minds of all time have realized that getting right with God is no simple matter. But until we are right with God there can be no real peace for us: Jesus Christ claims He is the solution to man’s quest for inner peace. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Note He doesn’t tell us where to look for peace. He is peace. To know Him aright is to have real inner peace. Now if we be lieve His claim that He is God then we have Our solution to a right relationship with God. He is the solution. Christ dealt with m an’s sin in His own way. It just makes common sense that we need search no longer. He dealt with man’s sin by dying on the cross. His shed blood is the price paid. And the price is adequate. Our part is to but accept His sacrifice. Right now by faith you can experience the cross of Christ and the power of His blood to save. There is absolutely only one solution to your sin problem and that is the blood of Christ. Don’t treat it as an academic subject. Simply make the experiment of trying the power of His blood to save. If you are willing to believe, He will not, He cannot disappoint you. You will never know real inner peace until your relation ship is right with Him. He is able and He is willing. — L. H. nificance to the student of prophecy is the rise of atheism and the wor ship of power. For the first time in the history of the world a modern nation, Russia, has officially embraced atheism as its belief. Never on such a comprehensive scale has there been such an organized attempt to erase every vestige of religion whether true or false. This has significance par ticularly as compared with the apos tate religion which will characterize the time of the great tribulation. Ac cording to Daniel 11:38, the world leader will “honour the God of forces,” or, as it is in the RSV and ASV, “the God of fortresses.” The god of apostasy will be the god of power, the personification of military might. With its roots in atheism and its ut ter blasphemy of the true God, mod em Russia is the prototype of that which is to come. Already its subtle God-defying philosophy has permeat ed the world and awaits the release which will come when the restraint of the Holy Spirit is lifted at the translation of the church. Probably the most obvious feature of our day in the light of prophecy is the United Nations. For the first time there has been a workable union in which the great nations of the world have participated actively. In the light of the predicted world gov ernment of the tribulation time (Rev. 13), the trend in our day toward cen tralization of power and the popular acceptance of world government as the way out of world chaos is of great significance. The man on the street as well as the statesman in his secret councils is looking for some sort of international agreement which will dissolve the tensions which now exist CONTINUED ►
