by worshiping the Father in spirit? Dis cuss the fact that true worship is not external; this is the mistake the woman at the well made (cf. w . 20-21). True worship is of the spirit and is spiritual. Hence only those who have been born again can really worship God (cf. John 3:1-7). 6. What do you think our. Lord meant when He said that true worship must be done in truth? (Compare John 14:6 and 1 Cor. 2:12-14.) 7. Discuss some of the things that young people do in worship services that hinder the worship of God, viz., whispering, writ ing notes, giggling, etc. Ask the young people if these things ought to be done in the worship service. 8. How did our Lord feel about the place of worship? (Matt. 21:12, 13.) What would He say today about the fairs, bazaars, carnivals and gambling carried on in connection with the church? 9. What happened to one man because he trifled with sacred things in Old Testa ment days? (2 Sam. 6:6, 7.) Note also the case of Nadab and Abihu (Lev. 10:1, 2). 10. Apply the truth of Psalm 89:7 to our worship today. 11. What is the warning of Eccles. 5:1? 12. List on the blackboard the sugges tions of your group as to the ways by which you may improve .your worship— quietness, entering into every part of the service, concentration on all that is being done, opening the heart to the message from God’s Word, etc. March 14, 1954 I Believe in God Our Father Deut. 32:1-6; Isa. 64:8 DAILY READINGS March 8 — The Father Revealed by the Son — John 1:14-18 March 9 — The Father and the Son l^ p L u k e 10:21, 22 March 10 — A Father of the Fatherless — Psa. 68:4-6 March 11 — One Father -— -Matt. 23:9 March 12 — The Father Sustains Life — Matt. 6:25-34 March 13 — The Father Answers His Children — ■ Luke 1 1:9-l 3 HEART OF THE LESSON We begin today a series of three doc trinal studies of great importance. The Christian should know what he believes and why so that he can give an answer to any man who asks him (1 Peter 3:15). Today we take up the doctrine of God and especially the doctrine of the Father hood of God, a very wonderful topic, in deed.

STUDY QUESTIONS 1. What is the only authoritative source of information about God? (2 Tim. 3:16.) 2. Why is it that the human mind can not discover God by searching? Discuss the inabilities of the human mind and the vastness of the concept of God. 3. How, then, can God be known by man? Discuss the fact that if God is to be known He must reveal Himself. (Study John 1:18; John 14:8-11; Phil. 2:5-11.) 4. What wonderful relationship to God did our Saviour make possible through His atoning work on the cross? (Rom. 5:1; Rom. 8:8, 14-17; Gal. 3:26.) 5. According to the Word of God are all men the children of God and do all have the right to call God their Father? (John 1:12; John 14:6; John 3:16; John 3:36; Rom. 6:23; Gal. 3:26.) 6. Discuss some of the privileges of son- ship. Now that you are a child of God through faith in Jesus Christ what won derful things does this relationship entitle you to enjoy? (See Psa. 103:13; Matt. 6:- 25-34; Luke 11:9-13; John 14:13, 14; Rom. 8:15-17; Gal. 4:4-7.) To be a Christian is to have the Saviour in your heart. Therefore it is of utmost im portance what a man believes about Jesus Christ. Eternal life comes from believing in Christ aright (John 17:3). STUDY QUESTIONS 1. Since men are saved only through the blood of Jesus Christ how were men in Old Testament times saved? (Lev. 17:- 11; Heb. 10:1.) The truth is that the blood of the sacrifices in the Old Testa ment pointed forward to the time when God’s Son, the Lamb of God (John 1:29), would come and make atonement, once and for all, for all sin from the beginning of time To the end of time, for all who believe (Rom. 3:21-26).
