Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) serves students, faculty and scholars from across the University of Illinois campus, along with communities from across Illinois and the Midwest, by promoting innovative research, specialist teaching, and public awareness of the Latin American region: its histories, challenges, and complex connections to the United States and other parts of the world. Center for South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies The Center for South Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (CSAMES, pronounced see- sayms), promotes teaching and scholarship on South Asia and the Middle East and fosters a greater public understanding of these globally influential regions. For over thirty years, the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign has recognized the importance of South Asian and Middle Eastern studies by supporting student and faculty projects related to the region. Through study abroad programs, language instruction, and faculty teaching and research, the campus offers students a variety of learning opportunities to engage with South Asian and Middle Eastern cultures, histories, and societies. CSAMES offers undergraduate minors in South Asian Studies and Islamic World Studies and a Master’s of Arts degree with a concentration in South Asian or Middle Eastern Studies.
Chinese Business Students & Alumni Association
European Union Center Founded in 1998, the European Union Center serves as the focal point for teaching, research, and outreach on Europe and the European Union at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign. Our sponsored projects, affiliated faculty, academic programs, and outreach and public engagement activities foreground interdisciplinary, inclusive, and international perspectives on issues impacting Europe as a geographic and cultural space over time. Global Academy The ACES Academy for Global Engagement (Global Academy) is a unique training program designed to increase the capacity for international activity by ACES faculty and University of Illinois Extension professionals. The program includes a series of scholarly and experiential activities designed to enable participants to increase the impact of their professional work through global engagement. Graduate Students of French and Italian The Graduate Students of French and Italian association aims to better serve the needs of students enrolled in graduate programs in French and Italian through the organization of social and cultural events. Global Architecture Brigades (GAB) GAB designs and constructs socially responsible and sustainable architecture solutions in developing nations. It adopts a think tank design approach that utilizes extensive community dialogue and independent research to create efficient, appropriate, and elegant structures to be embraced and utilized by the communities we serve.
Chinese Business Student & Alumni Association is a start-up association. It
connects Chinese students and alumni to get valuable information for students no matter whether they would like to go back to China or find a job in the US. It utilizes resources from the Gies College of Business and the School of Labor and Employment Relations, as well as alumni networks, to maximize impact of the education of Chinese students on their future careers. Members collect and share resources and job-hunting information from different programs, alumni, faculty, and staff. Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) The Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) is the official organization for overseas Chinese students and scholars registered in most colleges, universities, and institutions. The functions of CSSA are helping away-from-home Chinese in their life, study, work, and other issues, and bringing Chinese students together on campus. CSSA also serves as a bridge between the Chinese and other communities, spreading Chinese culture.
Chinese Union - Illinois Chinese Student Organization The Chinese Union is the first non-profit organization in the US to be established by Chinese students. It serves to foster a sense of community and mutual assistance in Chinese students studying abroad. Diversity in Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering Diversity in ISE is an initiative to establish a collaborative community in ISE by celebrating the cultural, social, academic and professional backgrounds of the students, staff and faculty. This organization aims to promote academic excellence and foster entrepreneurial am- bition of both undergraduate and graduate students in the department. Engineers Without Borders (EWB) EWB-USA supports community-driven development programs worldwide by collaborating with local partners to design and implement sustainable engineering projects, while creating transformative experiences and responsible leaders. The UIUC chapter is one of the largest Engineers Without Borders student chapters in the nation.
