Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering (WECE) WECE is committed to constructing a comfortable environment for everybody who studies and does research in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UIUC by increasing the social interaction within and outside the department; providing opportunities to meet prominent women in the field; providing professional information and support; advocating for relevant policy, practices, and curricula changes; and creating awareness of the issues relevant to women in Electrical and Computer Engineering. WECE aims to not only help fellow students at UIUC, but also to aid others, beyond the boundaries of our campus by demonstrating our support for women already in ECE as well as by sending delegates to high schools, recruiting new minds to join the field.
Women in Nuclear The primary goals of Women in Nuclear are educating the local community about the benefits of nuclear technology and professionally developing our members. Women’s Resources Center The mission of the Women’s Resources Center is to improve the campus climate for womxn students, which they do by developing and implementing programs that address social issues through an intersectional lens. The center works collaboratively with individuals and groups to identify personal, social, economic and political issues that adversely affect womxn, and offers support through advocacy, education, financial awards, and social action. Women in Finance Academy (WiF) The Women in Finance Academy (WiF) offers additional programming outside the classroom that helps students explore potential career paths, build skills for success, and connect with other female students, alumni, and professionals in the field through: - Panel discussions that focus on both raising awareness of financial career paths as well as addressing challenges unique to women within the finance world. - An All-Female Stock Pitch Competition hosted in the fall, which will enable female finance students to make connections across the region and connect with future employers. - Professional development seminars aimed at building quantitative and soft skills. - Networking and Learning Opportunities, including trips to Chicago and New York City to meet potential employers and learn more the industry.
