Ways to Engage

Access & Multicultural Engagement The charge of Access and Multicultural Engagement (AME) is to create a community that fosters engagement, advocacy, and appreciation for differences that influence the success of all students. AME seeks to promote strategic programs, academically enriching courses, and culturally nurturing events that contribute to the enrichment of the College and the betterment of the broader campus community. Asian American Cultural Center The University of Illinois has one of the largest and most vibrant Asian American university communities in the Midwest, where almost 40% of students are of Asian descent. Opened in Fall 2005, the Asian American Cultural Center provides the University of Illinois community with space to gather and share experiences of our diverse and rich cultures. As a unit of the Office of Inclusion & Intercultural Relations, the AACC promotes cross-cultural understanding that supports the academic and personal growth of students, along with learning experiences that help shape a lifetime commitment to ethical and engaged citizenship.

Christian Healthcare Student Association

Minorities in Health Sciences Minorities in Health Sciences is here to provide guidance and academic support to students pursuing a health-related field. It assists health major students by providing opportunities and activities that will enhance their qualifications and increase competitiveness in the application process for graduate and health schools. Minorities in Health Sciences works to create an environment where each of its members can feel welcome and achieve their academic and professional goals through volunteering opportunities, socials, workshops, guest speakers, student panels, and leadership opportunities. Engineers Without Borders (EWB) EWB-USA supports community-driven development programs worldwide by collaborating with local partners to design and implement sustainable engineering projects, while creating transformative experiences and responsible leaders. The UIUC chapter is one of the largest Engineers Without Borders student chapters in the nation.

Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students The Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students is committed to supporting current and future underrepresented minority pre- medical students, addressing the needs of underserved communities, and increasing the number of clinically excellent, culturally competent and socially conscious physicians. Morrill Engineering Program (MEP) Morrill Engineering Program (MEP) was developed to attract and retain qualified students from underrepresented groups in engineering including African American, Native American, Latina/o, Women of all ethnicities, people with disabilities, and economically disadvantaged individuals.

The purpose of this club is to motivate, inform, equip, and network fellow Christian pre-health students as they consider and prepare for a career in the healthcare field.

Cross-Cultural Retreat Held at the Lake Williamson retreat center near Springfield, the OIIR Cross Cultural Leadership Retreat features workshops, team building activities, and opportunities to network with other student leaders and staff. Transportation, lodging, and food are provided. Diversity in Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering (DISE) Diversity in ISE is an initiative to establish a collaborative community in ISE by celebrating the cultural, social, academic and professional backgrounds of the students, staff and faculty. This organization aims to promote academic excellence and and foster entrepreneurial of both undergraduate and graduate students in the department.
